UNIVERSITI Brunei Darussalam 'A' (UBD A) have made it five in a row. UBD A were crowned the champions of the UBD Cup 2012 after cruising to an 88-45 victory over International School Brunei (ISB) in the final last night at the Multipurpose Hall of the UBD Sports Complex in Tungku Link.
National cager Muhd Zainul Ashyraf Hj Hussin had a game-high 22 points to pace UBD A while Soon Kian Leong and Lim Chi Hong added 14 and 10 points respectively in the win.
Mau Fornerino Barboza and Mitchell Watt had 12 points each to lead ISB in the losing effort.
Coming into the matchup as underdogs, ISB had a nervy start to the final.
They only got their first basket of the match halfway through the opening period.
With Zainul starting the game on the bench, ISB dominated the boards but failed to capitalise on their second chance opportunities that saw them trail 17-9 going into the second stanza.
It remained the same affair for ISB at the start of the second frame as nothing was going in on the offensive end. Read More…
