Brunei team face tough opener in Manila
THE Brunei Barracudas will be back at war today.
Brunei's first professional basketball team will face off against the defending champions, the Philippine Patriots, in their opener of the second season of the Asean Basketball League (ABL) today at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig in the Philippines.
It will be a whole new ball game with both teams boasting new faces but history doesn't favour the Brunei side with the Patriots have won all 11 of their home games last season.
(The Barracudas lost both their matches in Manila falling 70-56 in December and 87-65 in January).
Thus, it will be a tough hill to climb for the Barracudas with their new head coach, Ozell Wells, only having just over two weeks to prepare the team for today's battle and the new season.
The team's 'newest' import Chris Garnett, meanwhile, had only joined the Barracudas a few days ago.
