Belait Sultan's Cup tips off tomorrow at the Kampung Baru basketball

Boasting several former players from the Barracudas roster Esmond Tan, Presley Ho, Xavier Fong and Lim Aik Hock and guided by the former assistant coach of the Barracudas, Wong Yee Chai, they are labelled the favourites of the tournament after winning the BBA Open Challenge Trophy by defeating the Ilonggo Stingers 83-77 in the final at the Brunei Basketball Association (BBA) court in Batu Bersurat last month.
The camp is still in high spirits despite taking more of a laidback approach heading into the competition.
"We have had three training sessions since we won the last tournament. The team took some time off but I think, at this point, we're slowly getting back in shape," said Tan, the captain of Plaza Sutera Biru, in an interview with The Brunei Times, yesterday.
"It will be tough just like the previous competition but we believe that we stand a good chance for a run to another championship," added the 26-year-old cager.
However, the former Barracudas guard might not see action in every game
due to work commitments but is confident that his team can deliver the goods.
"We're aiming to win every tournament that we compete in. At least that
is our goal as long as we stick together as a team," said the Tutong native. Read More...
