demolition of an undermanned Kota Kinabalu side last night in the 11th
Borneo City Veteran Basketball Invitational Tournament 2010 at the
Brunei Basketball Association court in Batu Bersurat.
The win handed Brunei the silver after Labuan defeated Miri 83-75 earlier in the day to claim the gold.
"We're not that satisfied with the silver because we were aiming for the gold. We were quite unlucky that we lost to Labuan last night (Saturday
night). We had a real good chance at it but we just got too nervous.
That allowed them to gain momentum in that match," said Rosli Said, the captain of Brunei, in an interview with The Brunei Times, after the
triumph.
"We just had too many mistakes. We'll have to make changes to compete next year. We need to improve further if not it would be another difficult campaign," he added.
Brunei suffered a 57-62 setback to Labuan on Saturday.
Five players got into double figures for the Sultanate yesterday with Lim
Eng Ann putting up a shooting clinic for a game-high of 29 points including nailing nine treys in the match.
Tony Tan added 14 points while Chen Fen Wei, Woo Min Kong and Ho Poh San each had 12 points in the victory.
On the other hand, Chong Nyuk Hiung was the go-to-man for KK as he nailed six triples enroute for a team-high of 26 points and Tan Kok Mon chipped in 14 points to a losing cause.
KK were always the underdogs having dropped their last two matches and only had two players on the bench. Brunei fielded their substitutes in the opening period and still managed to get ahead 15-7 midway through the quarter. Read More...
