The new ABL season starts in October and Brunei Barracudas are busy looking for their new coach and players. YEE CHUN LEONG thinks Kevin Reece, the national basketball coach, is one of the candidates to lead the Barracudas
WITH just over a month to go before the start of the Asean Basketball League's (ABL) second season, Brunei's representatives the Barracudas are in the process of selecting players as well as the head coach, who will lead the charge for the Sultanate's first professional basketball team.
But the big question remains who are the best and most deserving people to don the blue jerseys this upcoming season?
The Barracudas brought in Coach Bong Ramos from the Philippines to mentor the young team last season.
He guided the team to a 6-9 record which saw them fall short of reaching the playoffs in the inaugural season.

In addition to this, the coach could only play the team's imports during the games as the local players were still not up to par, compared to their opponents, a fact which received much criticism last year.
With this in mind, fans knew that the team would eventually run out of gas, having to rely on only six or seven players on rotation throughout the entire season.
Barracudas owner Nadzaty Azma Azeez, on Tuesday told The Brunei Times, that they were keeping all options open and that everyone was taken into consideration for the sophomore season.
