Coach wants Easyway to maintain their momentum

LIVING up to their name after sweeping aside their group stage opponents, Easyway can now shift their attention to the main task at hand defending their Sultan Cup title.
The national basketball team surprised none by recording comfortable wins in each of their Group A games and Saturday night's 86-50 result against MK Primo Jaya left them with a perfect 4-0 record.
They started off with a 77-44 win over Chainblock LSL last Monday, blew past J-Nat Enterprise 96-50 on Wednesday and ran out 101-58 winners against Asmin Enterprise the next night beating their opponents by an average of 39.5 points at the Brunei Basketball Association court in Batu Bersurat.
Kevin Reece (pic) doesn't want his charges to get overconfident though, and speaking to The Brunei Times yesterday, the national coach called on his players to maintain their momentum.
"The group stage means nothing to us the next three games will decide our season," said Reece, who saw his men surrender their Borneo Cup crown to Kota Kinabalu at the start of the month.
"The quarter-finals are in a couple of weeks' time so right now we have to keep practising and stay in our routine.
"We've found our niche now ... The little things we took for granted last time, we're doing them properly.
"Little things like talking to each other on defence, pointing at the ball, trusting teammates, being aggressive.
"We're not going to wait for our opponents, we're going to take the game to them," he added.
The American has always taught his players the importance of defence, and once again, their ability to shut their opponents down is earning them all the right headlines. Read More…
