Dagger carve out first win

A 24-POINT performance by Loo Zhi Hung helped Dagger to a 90-77 win over Pondok Empat Laut in last night's Sultan Cup Group C play.
Netting the first six points of the game, the Dagger captain also scored two crucial three-poineters at the end of the third quarter to give his team a 62-58 lead heading into the final period.
Cutting their opponents apart with their transition game, Dagger were in control throughout the match despite trailing 17-16 at the end of the first quarter at the Brunei Basketball Association (BBA) court in Batu Bersurat.
Focusing their efforts on a run-and-gun style of play, they would enter the second half with a 39-33 lead though they were never able to pull away because of their lacklustre defence.
Brandon James Nambiar had 15 points to his name while Hung Ing Wai scored 12 for Dagger.
Leong Ching Onn was Pondok Empat Laut's top scorer with 19 points, with Sin Chong Hong adding 11 and Sia Choon Hong and Daniel Yap each adding eight. Read More…
