DON MORDENO put up 61 points but it was not enough to carry Ford to victory.
Geve Leones (pic, right) was the hero after he nailed three freethrows with a second left to lift Jati Transport to a 90-87 win over Ford in Group C of the Inter-Company NBT Basketball Tournament at the Brunei Basketball Association Court in Batu Bersurat last night.
Leones topscored for Jati Transport with 43 points and Ness Espique gave a helping hand with 20 points in the victory.
Jati Transport were in the driving seat for most of the game and carried a 74-55 lead going into the final quarter.
Mordeno single-handedly brought his team back from the dead. With the scores tied at 87-87, Mordeno was going for the game-winner, but his teammate Docog was called for a blocking foul resulting in freethrows for Jati Transport with a second left on the clock.
Mordeno was called for a technical foul for arguing the play and Leones stepped up to sink three out of four from the charity stripe to claim the victory.
The earlier game in the same group saw Sunlit defeat Readymix with a walkover.
The competition continues today with Group A action. HAHD will go up against B Mobile at 7.30pm. Read More…
