CAVAN KONG exploded in the second half to finish with 42 points to lift Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) to an 80-62 victory over Chevrolet Spark in Group D of the Inter-Company NBT Basketball Tournament at the Brunei Basketball Association court in Batu Bersurat last night.
The national shooting guard was held to only 10 points in the first half before he took over at the offensive end for 15 in the third and 17 in the fourth to help SCB finish the group stage flawless.
"I had the momentum ... It just felt really good shooting the ball," said Kong during an interview with The Brunei Times after the win.
Yap Chun Ping was the only other cager in double figures for SCB with 11 points.
On the other hand, Randy Gomez topscored for Spark with 13 points while Lim Fung and Lee Han Chiok added 12 and 11 points respectively in the loss.
The game got off to a slow start with both teams struggling to find any rhythm at the offensive end. Spark were firing from long range while SCB, despite getting good looks, were missing. Spark started getting higher percentage shots to open up a 15-10 lead going into the second period. Read More…
