Captain Sim leads Brunei to another victory in KK
Sultanate a win away from gold
BRUNEI are just a step away from the summit.
The national basketball team led from start to finish to record their second straight win with a 76-47 triumph over Labuan last night in the 13th Borneo City Men's Basketball Invitational Tournament 2011 held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
Ben Sim put up another good performance as he filled up the stats-sheet with his double-double scoring a game-high of 21 points and 11 rebounds.
The national team captain was also active at the defensive end with four steals to his name.
"I wanted gold so bad last year, but it was too bad I got injured. Since then I've been on a quest to win gold for Brunei in the Borneo Cup," said Sim in an interview with The Brunei Times yesterday.
"Now with the right attitude and players, I think we have been taking a step in the right direction since Coach K's arrival," he added.
There was plenty of help coming from Esmond Tan with his double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds including five steals.
Soon Kian Leong also hit double figures with 11 points and Choo Yung Jian provided a good boost with nine points, five steals and five assists.
Muhd Zainul Ashyraf Hj Hussin did a great job on the boards with 10 rebounds as well. Read More…
