Borneo Cup: Brunei heroes have landed

THERE was no heroes' welcome, but they are definitely Brunei's heroes.
The national basketball team returned to the Sultanate last night and they did so with their heads held high.
They made history in Sabah after winning the 13th Borneo City Men's Basketball Invitational Tournament 2011 in Kota Kinabalu on Saturday.
They finished the competition with a 3-0 win-record, ending a 13-year wait to lift the challenge trophy.
National basketball team captain Ben Sim (pic) proudly had his gold medal around his neck and he felt that the team deserved the title.
"It was a good run for us. Everyone put in the work and we deserved it," said Sim in an interview with The Brunei Times yesterday.
Prior to their departure for the Aug 4-6 competition, national basketball coach Kevin Reece had mentioned that gelling might be the only problem for the team.
"There was not much difficulty playing together," said Sim.
"Since coach came, he has been looking for the best way to play together. We have always had the talent but it was all about organising and putting them together," he added. Read More…
