Nephews fall to 'A' team

THEY are indeed the A team.
Easyway/CK Tang edged Giap's Nephews 65-59 last night to sweep Group C of the Aewon Cup 2011 Basketball Championship Tournament at the Brunei Basketball Association court in Batu Bersurat.
In what was their fourth straight win in the competition, Easyway had a balanced offence with three players hitting double figures.
Muhd Zainul Ashyraf Hj Hussin led his team with 12 points while Han Ming Kwang and Tony Bong added 11 and 10 points respectively in the victory.
Ting Heng Lee had a game-high of 19 points to pace Giap's Nephews and Jon Lee poured in 11 points to a losing cause.
Giap's Nephews, with national coach Kevin Reece on the sidelines, managed to put up some strong defensive efforts to take a 7-4 lead midway through the opening period.
The team, comprising of the country's under-23 national side, were covering the weak side well and boxing out to out-rebound their taller opponents to stay ahead 16-13 going into the second quarter.
Easyway, made up of national cagers, came out firing in the second, scoring six straight points while upping their game at the defensive end to score in transition. Read More…
