Jedstar shoot into 2nd round

JEDSTAR advanced into the next round of the Aewon Cup 2011 Basketball Championship Tournament following another superb performance by Vincent Superio.
The 32-year-old poured in a game-high of 34 points to lead his team to a 103-96 victory over Wan Sing in Group B last night at the Brunei Basketball Association court in Batu Bersurat.
"I just tried my best out there because we needed the win to see us through to the next round," said Superio in an interview with The Brunei Times on his performance in the victory.
Jessie Lamaste provided plenty of help on the offensive end with 18 points while George Castaneda and Arjay Buenaventura added 12 and 10 points respectively in the triumph.
Wan Sing also put on a balanced attack with four players scoring into double figures.
Sonny Bautista topscored for the team with 24 points and Arnold Patricio also had a good game with 17 points to his name. MV Dela Pena added 13 and Jef Camay scored 12 in the loss.
It was a difficult game for the players as well as the officials, with both teams suiting up in same coloured uniforms. Read More…
