GV’s 23 leads Palm past SOLD, Wildcats 4th win.
After leading by only 8 pts by the end of 3rd period (56-48), Palm Garden started to pull away and widen their lead from Castro and Felicilda’s barrage of perimeter shots, ending the game 86-65, giving Palm Garden a 5-0 win-loss card and a top seat of their bracket.
The game was pretty close in the first half with Palm leading only a couple of points (24-20, 42-37). SOLD tried to stay in the game using their height advantage inside but Palm’s transition and half court press weapon is no match to them.
GV Leones led all scorers with 23 pts for Palm Garden followed by Larry Mayrina’s 20 of SOLD.
The winless record of SOLD placed them to the bottom of the standings.
”The team have been preparing lately for the coming round and I’m just glad that our hard work during practice paid off,” Playing coach Lito Porlahe said.
“I told my team to expect a difficult cross-over round and they need to double their efforts, the win tonight is an easy one and we just use it to apply our set plays during practice.” He added.
Palm Garden Cafe owner and long time basketball fan Chef Teresa together with friends came to support the team every time they play.
In the earlier game tonight, Wildcats defeated Beaver Engineering. Final score 103-86.
