White Haven confident of winning 2nd straight title

WHITE HAVEN are confident of their second straight title when the Under-23 category of the Basketball Youth Cup kicks off Saturday at the Brunei Basketball Association (BBA) court in Batu Bersurat.

"We have the confidence that we can do it eventhough we have made a few changes to the team," said White Haven assistant coach Kenny Ching yesterday.

Majomar Aying and Joseno Mangoroban, who played for the 2009 Brunei Pepsi Cup champion Babes Boutique, will once again banner White Haven after leading the team to the Belait District Basketball Association Under-23 tournament last month.

Joining the Filipino duo is compatriot Reggie Malinao, a member of the Palm Cafe that won the 3rd Manjaro Cup last month. Malinao, who stands at 6ft 3in, will be a plus factor.

"I believe that our chances are very good because of the height advantage. But we cannot take our opponents for granted. Anything can still happen," said Ching. Read More…
