Willie’s 25 top TPJ, Knights win close game.

GADONG, BSB – (Group A) Selangan outplayed TPJ in every department from last nights U-23 Youth Basketball Cup in Batu Bersurat, 75-28. Selangan’s inside presence of their bigs is too much for the TPJ to handle. TPJ’s 3rd consecutive loss will place them at the bottom of the standings. 

TPJ’s unnecessary turnovers (at least 5 24-sec shot clock violations) and inability to convert easy baskets in 2nd period had allowed Selangan to start pulling away in the game, 27-11. Willie Jong had 25 points, and Cavan Kong added 19 for the Selangan while Na’iem and Fakri added 6pts each.

In the earlier match, Knights dodge from Recon Bullets, 38-33. Teo Lian Boon led scorers with 11pts followed by 9pts of Liew Shan Wee. Fakhriy and Muhammad Alif had 6pts and 7pts respectively.

Tournament continues later at 7pm between QQeStore and HHY (Group C) of the U-18 category.
