BSRC five-on-five basketball tourney
Saturday, January 9, 2010
THE Brunei Shell Recreation Club (BSRC) will hold the BSRC five-on-five Open basketball tournament on Jan 17 at the Mumong Indoor Sports Complex in Belait.
The competition initially was to be held after the three-on-three tournament which was won by Freshmen in November last year but was postponed due to technical reasons.
"We are expecting 12 teams to register for the tournament with some of them coming from the capital," said Arnel Aldovino, the chairman of the BSRC basketball committee, in an interview with The Brunei Times yesterday.
According to Aldovino, the committee will also be conducting a basketball clinic for kids and women during the competition period.
"We are hoping to complete the tournament in four weeks and we're planning to hold a competition for kids and women later in the year," said Aldovino.
The tournament is open to all residents of Brunei and is aimed at promoting the sport in the country.
Application forms are available at Marilyn Cake House (Kuala Belait branch) and entry fee is $300 per team.
Interested parties must return their forms on or before Jan 12.
