Both teams were neck-in-neck at the start of the match when Slingers pulled away in the third period where Slingers took a 17 point lead. They advanced their lead in the fourth period with a 20 point lead. The match ended with Slingers winning 87 – 69 against the Brunei Barracudas.
Michael LeBlanc led the Slingers to victory with 20 points total, which was closely matched by Barracudas’ Michael Pilgrim with 16 points. Leblanc is one of the four foreign imports playing for the Slingers. The other three are Kyle Jeffers, Al Vergara and Marcus Ng.
Brunei Barracudas team owner Ms Nadzaty Azma Azeez was happy with her team’s performance “After practicing for only 2 weeks as a full team, they showed great teamwork and could hold their own against the more experienced Slingers”.
