White Heaven eye Under-23 crown

THE Under-23 basketball tournament organised by the Kuala Belait Basketball Association is set to tip off with two games today starting at 7pm at the Kg Baru basketball court in Seria.

Six teams White Heaven, Chicken King, Pyrogen, Easyway, Tribal and Yun Hin Trading Co have registered for the tournament.

According to Liew Kok Hua, tournament organiser, the competition will be played in a round-robin format. He said that if more than one team had the same number of wins then the winners would be based on points difference.

White Heaven, who will be fielding Filipinos Majomar Aying and Josend Mangoroban, are favourites to lift the title. The two were part of the Babes Boutique squad that won the 2009 Brunei Pepsi Cup in August.

"We are aiming for the title despite not having any training as there was no venue available. We also hope the tournament will help the local players to learn from the Filipinos," said Kenny Ching, the assistant coach of White Heaven.
