MIKE PILGRIM is set and ready to put his bad game behind him in the hope of guiding the Barracudas to their first home win in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) when they take on the visiting Singapore Slingers at Berakas tonight.
"I'm ready and I know that I just need to be more active and effective just like the imports of the Slingers," Pilgrim said yesterday.
"If I can stay active for at least 35 minutes in the game then I'll be okay. That would be my main aim," added the 25-year-old American.
Brunei's first professional basketball team are coming off a 73-76 loss to the KL Dragons at home last Sunday and are ready to bounce back against one of the early favourites of the league that handed the Philippine Patriots a 74-69 loss on the same day.
Coach Bong Ramos is confident that he has found the right formula to hand the Slingers their first defeat of the season.
"The team is ready and the motivation level is good and the players feel great. We will have to make sure that we blunt their full court press and half court press," said the former Indonesian national coach.
When asked on what were the adjustments of his team in preparations for the match, Ramos didn't reveal much but said: "We know what we have to do. We have to work on our defense and just tweak a little to adjust our side but what we hope to do is to contain them."
