DESPITE winning all their games as a guest team in the 38 years old and above category in the 3rd Manjaro Cup with Aewon and Western Union last month, Liga Bumiputera, are taking it to another level as they registered themselves in the regular category for the all-Filipino LBC Cup.
"We haven't really had a proper selection of players yet. We will most likely be sticking with the same players that we had during the Manjaro Cup," said Wira Pori, manager-cum-player of Liga Bumiputera, an all-Malay basketball team made up of players aged between 20 and 25.
"The team will be missing some key players (Ahmad Termizi Hj Nordeen, Zainul Ashyraf Hj Hussin and Ikram Damit) who are away for their studies and busy with work commitments," added Wira.
Wira pointed out that they were currently still searching for new players to feature in the tournament which is scheduled to start on Oct 11 at the Brunei Basketball Association Court in Batu Bersurat.
The team have set their sights on reaching at least the quarter-finals of the tournament.
"Hopefully we can go as far as possible. I think that we are ready for it as we're carrying the momentum over from the Manjaro Cup," added Wira during the interview. Read More…
