Sharp shooter Don Dadis Mordeno, takes a break to talk to YEE CHUN LEONG.
Q: Please help me to introduce yourself before we get started.
A: I am 27 this year and I started playing basketball at the age of four when my father was coach of our local team. During my varsity years, I played for Les Pinas College from 2001-2005 and managed to win two championships with the team.
I then moved on to play for various towns in the (Philippine) commercial league and lastly for Tagaytay City for a season last year before coming to Brunei.
Q: What are your thoughts about basketball players in Brunei?
A: I think that the players here are very competitive. My first tournament in Brunei (the 2009 Brunei Pepsi Cup) showed me just that. There were various players who would put up a lot of challenges to make you want to play better.
Q: How would you compare the standard of basketball in Brunei to that in the Philippines?
A: I feel that they are almost of the same standard. There are players here such as (Geve) Leones or those from the national team that play with their heart and soul in all their matches.
Q: So, what's next for you? Read More...
