China-Asean CBO men’s basketball invitational

Brunei cagers fifth in China

The Brunei national basketball team did the country proud when they took fifth place at the 2008 China-Asean CBO Male Basketball Invitational Games held in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the People's Republic of China last week.

Fist place went to powerhouse Philippines followed by China' Guangxi team, Singapore, Macau and then Brunei Darussalam.

Malaysia represented by a team from Johor came in sixth place while Vietnam were in seventh place and Myanmar took the last place.

The Brunei cagers had to beat three teams to clinch the fifth place finish. After a bad start in the first two days losing to Singapore and Philippines, Brunei came back strongly to beat Vietnam in a heart stopping game winning 86-84.
