National cagers go down to Guangxi

THE national basketball team got off to a losing start after they suffered a 100-58 setback against hosts Guangxi last night in Group B opener of the Third China-Asean Men's Basketball Invitational tournament at Pingguo County, Guangxi, China.
Ben Sim was the only national cager that got into double figures with 20 points, adding five rebounds and four assists to his name. Don Mordeno contributed eight points, five rebounds and three assists for the Brunei team in a losing effort. On the other hand, Lu Daming had a double-double for Guangxi with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Yuan Lin contributed 19 points while Chen Chao and Shengheng added 17 and 14 points respectively in the victory.
Guangxi, who were runners-up in the tournament last year and were third in China's National Basketball League, got off to a strong start and opened up a 23-13 lead heading into the second quarter. Read More…
