SOURCES close to the Brunei Barracudas yesterday disclosed that all local players on the team's roster have quit the country's first professional basketball team.
The current Barracudas lineup for the sophomore season of the Asean Basketball League (ABL) is only made up of nine players with the duo of American imports Chris Commons and Chris Garnett, the trio of Filipino players Chester Tolomia, Ramsey Williams and Bryan Faundo joined by Bruneians Esmond Tan, Benjamin Lim, Hj Md Badri Hj Suhaili and Lim Aik Hock.
The Barracudas have four more games to play in the regular season of the ABL where they are currently fifth in the six-team table holding a 3-8 win-loss record.
Tan when contacted by The Brunei Times yesterday refused to comment saying that he and the other Bruneian players will issue a statement soon.
The team are coming off a 95-87 defeat at the hands of the KL Dragons on Dec 4.
Sunday's win for the Dragons, who stunned the league leaders the Thailand Slammers 77-57 at home, means that the Barracudas would have to win all their remaining matches for a chance of making the playoffs.
