United we stand, Ballers win

BRUNEI United Ballers (BUB) picked up their second win of the Aewon Cup 2011 with a 63-50 result over Yun Lee Motor Workshop last night. Opening up a double-digit lead early in the first quarter, BUB managed to hold on to the advantage and ride out for the victory at the Brunei Basketball Association court in Batu Bersurat.
BUB's Badri Suhaili led all scorers with 16 points while Clinton Nambiar and Lim Liang Wei added 12 points each.
Yun Lee's Tan Kah Boon contributed 15 points, with Paul Wong Chuan and Ak Muhd Faizuladzmi Pg Tajudin each coming up with 11 points though it wasn't enough for the team to slump to their fourth straight loss.
Despite what looked like an easy win, BUB's Lim Chun Chich was quick to downplay his team's performance.
"We won because the other team didn't have their full squad not because we played exceptionally well," said the player.
"We weren't able to build on the double-digit lead we opened up in the second quarter. The momentum wasn't there ... We were just trading baskets after that," added Lim.
BUB's Jamri Ramlee scored his team's first six points and a three-pointer at the buzzer by Nambiar gave the team a 19-12 cushion at the end of the first quarter. Read More…
