Brunei cagers finally score one over Miri

The national basketball squad finally put away Miri 69-54 at the 13th Borneo City Men's Basketball Invitational Tournament 2011 held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Coincidentally, it took Brunei 13 years to defeat the second largest city in Sarawak in the Borneo Tournament, finally getting their revenge for their loss at last year's 12th Borneo City Men's Basketball Invitational Tournament.

Pictures: BT file Last time round, Miri thrashed Brunei 67-36 in a do-or-die match, in which the winner would be crowned champion.

The loss meant that the Sultanate was forced to settle for bronze instead.

What made matters worse for local basketball fans was that said match was played on home ground at the Brunei Basketball Association court in Batu Bersurat.

The defeat was the largest margin that the national cagers had lost by in the three-day competition, being outplayed in every possession. Read More…
