Fitness Zone and KFC's '3-on-3 Street Basketball' is set to return from June 22 to June 24 at the Airport Mall.

During a signing ceremony between the organisers and sponsors yesterday at the KFC (B) Sdn Bhd office in Gadong, it was announced that this time around will see challenges that are bigger and better.

"With many additional challenges like Slam Dunk, 1-on-1 challenge and 3-point shoot out, this tournament is to encourage youths today to be actively involved in sports," the organisers said.

The challenge will also feature a basketball clinic by national coach and PBA Ervin Velez; freestyle basketball showcase from the Sibu Free Style Challenge, and a free warmup class by MC Ivory Smith on Sunday. MC Ivory Smith from Las Vegas, USA, has been invited to the challenge for the first time ever to boost the event.

Teams in the 3-on-3 Street Basketball, presented by Fitness Zone and KFC, will battle it out in the Open Category, Student Category (U21), Ladies Category, KFC Family Bucket Challenge, Slam Dunk Competition, 1-on-1 challenge and 3-point shoot out.

A total of $8,000 is up for grabs, while attractive prizes ranging from cash prizes to electronic goods await the winning team. Free day passes at Fitness Zone and KFC vouchers will also be given to teams that register.

A meet-the-pro session and sports clinic will also be held during the tournament.

Signing on behalf of KFC was its Senior Marketing Manager, Jonathan Bong, which was witnessed by the Brunei Basketball Association (BBA) chairman among others. Sponsors for the challenge include Boustead Sdn Bhd, Easy Way, Beard Papa, Imperiall Sports, Mochi, Petar Perunding, Amberhigh Sdn Bhd, Revive as the official sports drink, Rain Fresh as the official mineral water. It is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MoCYS), Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA), Brunei Basketball Association (BBA), Red Crescent Association and Palm Hotel. In conjunction with the event, Boustead will also be launching the all-new Suzuki Swift Sports at the Airport Mall on June 23.
