ASEAN Basketball League launched in Manila

The ASEAN Basketball League was launched Tuesday in Manila as part of efforts to improve the standard of competition in the region.

Indonesia will be represented in the league by Satria Muda Britama, and compete with the Philippines Patriots from the Philippines, The Barracudas from Brunei Darussalam, the Kuala Lumpur Dragons from Malaysia, the Singapore Slingers from Singapore and the Thailand Tigers from Thailand, kompas.com reported.

Each team will play one another three times at home and away and the four winning teams will advance to the finals.

All the games will be held on a Saturday or a Sunday.

Southeast Asia Basketball Association (SEABA) president Erick Thohir said the league would help ASEAN clubs raise their standards to be able to compete with other clubs in Asia.
