All Hope is lost despite win

Picture: BT/Yee Chun Leong HOPE finally picked up their first victory in the 2nd Queenielin's Cup scoring a 90-80 win over Shun Wei in Group A at the Brunei Basketball Association court in Batu Bersurat last night.

Four players hit double figures for Hope with Allan Caringal leading with 29 points. Benjo Ramos contributed 22 points and Jeff Paraiso poured in 20 points while Arnold Buan chipped in 10 points in the victory.

On the other hand, Sonny Bautista had the game-high of 37 points for Shun Wei while George Castaneda and Frederick Coronel each chipped in 10 points to a losing cause.

Hope got off to a good start and were sharing the ball to find the open man for easy twos.

On the other hand, Shun Wei were delivering the ball to Bautista to get the points from the paint, but trailed 17-22 heading into the second
quarter.

It was the same affair in the second stanza as Shun Wei
had difficulty getting back on defence.

Hope were exploiting the situation by going on fastbreaks. Caringal was the top hitman by posting up his defender to put in 10 points for the period and extend their advantage to 50-33 at halftime.

Paraiso was up to his usual tricks by penetrating the basket for points. Read More...
