LBC Cup to start on Oct 18

THE start of the all-Filipino LBC Cup basketball tournament organized by the Filipino Basketball Association (FBA) of Brunei to welcome the new Philippine Ambassador to the Sultanate, Alexander Yano has been postponed to Oct 18.

The tournament was scheduled to start on Oct 11 at the Brunei Basketball Association court in Batu Bersurat.

"There are three reasons why we have to postpone the tournament. One is that there are a couple of teams formed in the last minute and they have yet to submit the necessary documents," said Mhar Porlahe, the FBA president, during an interview yesterday.

"There are also teams that could not get their jerseys ready within the given deadline," said Porlahe.

"The other reason is that our sponsor's (LBC Mabuhay Sdn Bhd') manager is currently not in town and will only return on Oct 11," added the Filipino during the interview.

The FBA president added that the initial start too clashed with the Brunei Shell Recreation Club (BSRC) Open Basketball tournament, also slotted for Oct 11. Read More…
