ABL: Brunei Barracudas vs Thailand Tigers 91-86

Brunei Barracudas make a come back in the last quarter to win against Thailand Tigers.

Saturday, 14 November 2009, Brunei – The Brunei Barracudas met with the Thailand Tigers for the first time today at the Brunei Indoor Stadium, Bandar Sri Begawan, Brunei.

Brunei Barracudas started the match with local player Benjamin Sim, as well as imports Leonidaz Avenido, Michael Pilgrim, Francis Adriano. Replacing injured Lonnie Jones is 6’ 6” Reggie Larry who hails from America’s Boise State University.

Thailand Tigers fielded Axel Doruelo, Ikenna Nwankwo, Chaz Briggs, Piyapong Piroon and Attaporn Lertmalaiporn, who were also the starting lineup for their home match against KL Dragons on 9 November, which saw Thailand Tigers win 88 – 71.


Brunei Barracudas’ Reggie Larry won the jumpball against Thailand Tigers’ Chaz Briggs, which Brunei Barracudas Michael Pilgrim converted, and the Brunei Barracudas ended the first quarter with a one point lead against the Thailand Tigers.

Thailand Tigers picked up the pace in the second quarter, and took the lead 55 - 43 against Brunei Barracudas. This continued into the third quarter ending Brunei Barracudas 65 – 73 Thailand Tigers.

The Brunei Barracudas, not wanting to disappoint their fans, found their game in the final quarter and subsequently won the match 91 – 86 against the Thailand Tigers.

Brunei Barracudas Reggie Larry made an amazing first appearance with 32 personal points, with Michael Pilgrim and Leonidez Avenido scoring 16 personal points each. Pilgrim also lead the team with 15 rebounds.

Thailand Tigers’ Chaz Briggs and Ratdech Kruatiwa lead the team with 17 personal points each, followed by Attaporn Lertmalaiporn with 15 person points. Ikenna Nwankwo lead the team with 12 rebounds.
