AKK Design beat MK Super Kids

AKK DESIGN notched up their second straight win with a 73-47 demolition of MK Super Kids in the 45-years-old and above category of the LBC Cup last night at the Brunei Basketball Association court in Batu Bersurat. 
  Jojo Apat had a game-high 19 points for AKK Design and Romel Gallano poured in 11 points. On the other hand, Danny Faustino led MK Super Kids with 16 points and Teddy Carandang contributed 10 points.

Both teams were equally matched in the opening period with AKK Design taking a 18-10 lead heading into the second quarter. MK Super Kids stuck with their opponents with some good shooting and managed to reduce the deficit by one as they were down 20-27 going into halftime.

AKK Design, being a guest team in the tournament as they didn't have players aged 45 and above, shifted gears after the break as they had better stamina in comparison to their older opponents which led to the blowout victory.

"Our opponents had the advantage as they were younger. We came into the match with only nine players as our key players were working," said Rick Ret, manager of MK Super Kids.

However, the MK Super Kids manager doesn't feel discouraged despite the results but rather put his focus on their upcoming game against Young Once on Sunday.

"Tonight's (Thursday) game was more of a tune up for our upcoming crucial match. We are hoping that we can grab a victory from that game but we'll definitely need our full line up to conjure up a victory," Ret added.

In the late match, GILR Wildcats defeated the Menglait All-Star 87-70 in Group B.
