Knights lose POXIO battle

POXIO RE-MIX handed Knights their first defeat in the Under-18 category of the Basketball Youth Cup with an 83-73 triumph at the Brunei Basketball Association court in Batu Bersurat last night.

Joven Umali had a game-high 34 points for POXIO Re-Mix and Ching Wee Hung contributed 16 points.

On the other hand, Teo Lian Boon topscored for the Knights with 27 points and Liew Shan Wee scored 22 points in a losing effort.

The Knights, who were carrying a four-game winning streak into the match, started out better of the two teams, passing the ball well to set up the open man.

Meanwhile, POXIO Re-Mix made it a see-saw battle by making their shots down the stretch but were down 14-17 heading into the second quarter.

Both teams were relying on their outside shooting in the second period and connected on most occasions.

The battle continued when POXIO Re-Mix tied the game at 30 apiece with three minutes remaining in the second quarter before the Knights regrouped to rally on a 7-3 run to keep their lead at 37-33 at halftime. Read More…
