What Larry wants for Xmas ...
ALL Reggie Larry wants for Christmas is a happy new year for the Barracudas when they continue on their mission for a playoff berth in the Asean Basketball League (ABL) next year.
Brunei's first professional basketball team may not have gotten their early Christmas present with a 56-70 defeat at the hands of table toppers and favourites, Philippine Patriots, last Sunday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Manila, but they are ready to move ahead and concentrate on making the playoffs when the league continues next year.
"The plan is to forget it (the defeat). It's a new year and we need to remind ourselves that we are trying to make the playoffs," said Larry, one of Barracudas' American import, in an interview with The Brunei Times yesterday.
"We know that the next couple of games are crucial and we will need to win them to get a chance at making it into the playoffs," added Larry.
The inaugural league continues with the Thailand Tigers hosting the Barracudas at the Nimibutr Indoor Stadium in Bangkok on Jan 4.
The 6ft 6in American believes that the team will be ready and up to the task for their third encounter with the Thai side.
"We will get better. We just need to stay in shape and not get into foul trouble. But we are getting better as a team," said the former Boise State player.
"We cannot afford to lose anymore home games and I believe we might be able to steal a few games away from home as well," added Larry, who is leading the league in points (21.0 points per game) and assists (4.0 assists per game). Read More...
