THE national basketball team may finally get their coach now.
Kevin Reece, better known as Coach K, the man chosen to lead the national cagers is in town to meet the Brunei Basketball Association (BBA) officers today.
The national basketball team have been without a coach since Filipino coach, Bennett Palad, left almost two years ago.
Tony Tan has been temporarily coaching the side, but it seems the wait is finally over for Esmond Tan and his teammates.
Reece visited the Sultanate in September and found plenty of potential for the sport in the country.
The ex-Bintulu coach found out about the vacancy when he brought the Bintulu National Basketball League (NBL) team to the Sultanate for friendly games.
"I'm looking forward to coming to Brunei because of my preference for the easy and less stressful way of living.
"Brunei is a place I can be at peace with my family and myself, appreciate the culture and enjoy what I love to do, teach the kids the game of basketball and have a great deal of fun along the way," said the 49-year-old Reece during a brief interview with The Brunei Times in Batu Bersurat yesterday.
