MIKE PILGRIM was under the weather on Wednesday. But not even a fever could stop him from putting on one of his best performances for the Barracudas in their 80-63 victory over the KL Dragons on Wednesday night in their Asean Basketball League (ABL) match at the Indoor Stadium of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.
Pilgrim poured in 20 points and hauled down 15 rebounds for a double-double in his third game playing in the centre position after the departure of compatriot, seven-footer Lonnie Jones.
"I had to fight a light fever so I got dehydrated a lot, but I wanted to win more than anything else. So I just didn't think about the sickness and just played my game," said Pilgrim in an interview with The Brunei Times yesterday.
However, the 25-year-old American didn't think it was a one-man performance but felt that it was the team's great teamwork and chemistry that allowed them to surge in the fourth quarter to pick up their third win in the ABL taking them off the basement of the six-team table.
"We played as a unit and we dug deep to keep ourselves focus. We were hungry after our two-week lay off without any games and our head coach, Bong Ramos, really prepared us well for the game," said the 6ft 9in American. Read More…
