The Brunei Basketball Association (BBA) made the announcement yesterday.
Reece, who found out about the job back in September when he brought a Bintulu Basketball League team to the Sultanate for friendly games, is delighted to become the new Brunei coach.
"I'm very excited about it. This is a great opportunity to be able to coach a national side," said Reece in an interview with The Brunei Times yesterday.
"I'm looking forward to the development of the sport in the country starting with the young players," added the 39-year-old American, who is better known as Coach K.
Reece, who hails from Los Angeles, California, in the United States, has been coaching professional basketball since 1985.
He is the winningest coach in the history of Singapore High School with a record of 22-1 in Championship appearances, having won in every division possible and earned over 300 wins.
Other notable achievements by the American coach, who graduated from the California State University Fullerton, include capturing the 2004 7-Eleven Challenge Cup National Champions Men's Open while coaching Singapore side Street Roc Wildcats. Read More...
