Are you a basketball pundit?

Tuesday, August 17, 2010

Damned if you do, damned if don't that's the dilemma faced by any
professional basketball coach. Let's face it, winning is everything and it is the only thing that will keep sponsors happy.

So my question to you is: do you play your best players or let the political rim of sports play a part in deciding who plays and who doesn't.

Personally I think and will stand firm on this you should field the player that is going to give you the best chance of winning the game, and once the game is secure then you play your bench.

So where does a coach draw the line, when even without a shadow of a doubt the game is unreachable for another team to come back?

Basketball is probably the hardest game to sub players in and out of play because of the chemistry involved. You must have court balance and that's the most important factor in deciding who to sub in and out of the game.

Court balance is five players who work together well, who know his or her
limitations. Meaning the roles involved, one player might be in because
of defence, another because of his offensive ability, another because of
leadership, another for his aggressiveness and the other because of his
rebounding etc.

So you have five players on the floor as a unit and that's when the machine is working and well-oiled. Now you're saying, what about the bench and the subs, the same applies there as well.
