Friday, August 20, 2010

MK KIDS SALON secured their semi-finals berth of the 2010 Sultan's
Cup via a convincing 105-74 win over Y@ppe IT Store yesterday night at
the Brunei Basketball Association court in Batu Bersurat.

Four players got into double figures for MK Kids Salon with Wawie Ybanez notching a game-high 23 points while Erwin Velez poured in 20. Jeff Paraiso added 15 while Roldan Binas chipped in 14 in the victory.

Presley Ho topscored for Y@ppe IT Store with 22 points while Jong Guo Zhang and Kevin Tay contributed 12 and 10 points respectively in the losing effort.

MK Kids Salon got off to a strong start with good pressure defence to force turnovers off their opponents' ball handlers.

Ho would score all but two of Y@ppe IT Store's 14 points as they trailed to MK Kids Salon's 28 by the end of the first quarter.

Y@ppe IT Store looked like a completely different team without key player Esmond Tan, who is away due to work commitments.

They were also missing their usual playmaker, Lim Aik Hock, who is currenlty playing for the Soon Lee-Easyway squad.

They had difficulty bringing the ball up the floor as MK Kids Salon applied a full court pressure defence that helped them extend their lead to 58-34
at halftime.

MK Kids Salon continued on their fine form by getting hitting shots from both the inside and the out to extend their lead to 30 points midway through the stanza. Read More...
